Portugal Suspend Ronaldo, open disciplinary proceeding

原文原文 / Original Text

Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended by the Portugal national team and will face a disciplinary council for storming off the national team camp.

The 41-year-old national legend caused a major storm after he was an unused substitute in Portugal’s Nations League match against Norway.

Ronaldo fumed at coach Jorge Jesus’ snub despite warming up for half an hour, and left the team three days later.

Ronaldo apologized several days later and stated that he was awaiting the disciplinary consequence of his actions.

The Portugal Football Federation (FPF) subsequently revealed that it suspended Ronaldo automatically for walking out on the team.

It stated his actions were contrary to article 14 paragraph 2 of its disciplinary regulations, and the matter was before its disciplinary instruction committee.
