2027: Anambra govt tells Nigerians to reject Obi

原文原文 / Original TextThe Anambra State Government has urged supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to defend the party and resist the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The state government made the call in a post titled “A Betrayal Alert for Ndi APGA”, published on its official X account on Monday.
In the post, the government alleged that Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the NDC, had worked against APGA since leaving the party in 2014.
The government declared: “A vote for Peter Obi and the NDC is a vote to kill APGA.”
It further alleged: “Since 2014, Obi has had one mission: to destroy the party that made him. In 2025, while President Tinubu stood with APGA, Obi backed opposition to bury us.”
The government also urged APGA supporters not to abandon the party for Obi, saying: “Do not be deceived by a man who abandoned his own house. Anambra is APGA. Ndi APGA, defend your home. Resist the NDC.”
The statement adds to the recent political exchanges between the Anambra government and Obi, who governed the state on the platform of APGA before leaving the party in 2014. Current reporting confirms that the statement was issued by the state government through its official X account.
Obi became governor of Anambra in March 2006 and served until March 2014, although his first tenure was interrupted by his impeachment in November 2006.
