Referee admits error in Nigeria-Ghana Beach Soccer AFCON...
原文原文 / Original TextCentre referee Driss Lamghaidar and his officiating team have admitted their role in the shocking finale to the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations first leg qualifying match between Nigeria and Ghana.
According to the NFF, the Moroccan official has admitted he erred for requesting both teams to play extra-time and penalties in the first leg encounter.
Hence the 3-3 scoreline after regulation time will be recorded going into the second leg of the qualifier in Ghana.
Nigeria’s goals were scored by Isa Hamza Manga, claiming a hattrick, while Ghana scored through Mawuli Sosu (brace), and Wise Nyamadi in a match that attracted big wigs in the National Sports Commission and Kaduna State Government.
NFF revealed it held a meeting with the officials on Saturday night after the match where the referees admitted the error and confirmed the 3-3 scoreline, indicating a winner takes all second leg.
“At a meeting on Saturday night, Lamghaidar admitted he had erred in taking the game to extra time and subsequently penalties, as it was only a first-leg encounter, with the second leg and decider to come on Sunday, 18th October in Keta, Ghana,” the NFF revealed in a press statement.
The Super Sand Eagles last participated in the beach soccer AFCON in 2018, missing the last three tournaments, including the 2022 edition where the team withdrew due to lack of funds and administrative challenges.
Nigeria is a two-time winner on the beach during the legacy African Beach Soccer Championship era, and has been runners-up twice- 2016 and 2018- since CAF rebranded the competition in 2015.
