At least 28 people have been killed in a renewed wave of attacks across three local government areas of Plateau State despite a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by the state government on September 21 to restore peace and prevent further loss of life.
The affected areas, including Mangu, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi, have witnessed repeated attacks in recent weeks, leaving thousands of residents living in fear, disrupting farming and cattle grazing and forcing many people to abandon their livelihoods.
Daily Trust reports that the latest incident occurred yesterday where two people were killed and six others injured following an attack on Sunday evening on Fulani herders in a pick up vehicle around Total filling station in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The latest attack occurred less than two weeks after gunmen attacked herders around Kassa community of Barkin Ladi, killing five and injuring one.
