Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the horrific gunmen attack in Plateau State.

Daily Trust had reported how gunmen shot dead nine passengers on Sunday night.

In a statement, Prince Adewole Adebayo condemned the ambush at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, saying this latest tragedy is clear proof that the federal government had completely abandoned its primary, constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians.

He wondered for how long Nigerians would be left vulnerable without adequate protection from daily bloodshed.

In the statement released by the Adewole Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign’s Chief Communications Adviser, Mark Adebayo, Prince Adewole Adebayo said, “My heart bleeds for the families who woke up on Monday morning to realize that their loved ones – fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters – will never come home.

“These were regular citizens traveling in a commercial bus, trying to make a living, completely defenseless. To be targeted and executed in cold blood by ruthless criminals is a stain on our collective humanity. We share in the overwhelming grief of the Plateau people. No family should ever have to bury their relatives under such barbaric circumstances.

“The attack on the commuters is not an isolated incident. It represents a systemic breakdown of national security. According to verified security reports by independent organizations like Global Rights Nigeria and SBM Intelligence, Nigeria’s security crisis has escalated dramatically this year alone.

“In just the first three months of the year, at least 2,063 people were killed across the country due to banditry, terrorism, and communal clashes. It didn’t stop there. Between January and April, Amnesty International documented that over 1,100 people were kidnapped in northern Nigeria alone. SBM Intelligence reports that Nigeria records an average of 21 kidnapping incidents every single day, with travelers on national highways becoming prime targets for criminal cartels.
